Anomalies in the 1855 Census of the Town of Saratoga

A few omissions or irregularities in the original 1855 Town of Saratoga census were detected by this transcriber. On occasion the surname of people enumerated in the same household is spelled differently. (Ex: the head of family #12 is Andrew McEachron, but the other members of the family are spelled McEakron.) In other instances the head of the household is listed as married and the person identified as his wife is not listed as married. Or a member of the household is listed as married, but no one else in the household is listed as wife. In other instances there is a discrepancy between the age and the number of years as a resident of Saratoga County for someone listed as being born in Saratoga County. Likewise for someone listed as being born outside of Saratoga County, but the age and number of years in the county are the same. The gender is not indicated for two individuals.
The transcription of this census record was completed in January 1999 by Patricia D. Peck. Any comments, corrections or omissions should be directed to her at 178 Wagman's Ridge, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866-6620.
