This record was made from microfilm copies of the original census pages, photocopied by the office of the Saratoga County Historian and transcribed by Suzy and Lynn Calvin.

The enumerator's penmanship was adequate but his spelling was atrocious. He had particular trouble in spelling names of Irish-American residents. He made up new spellings for any name he didn't recognize and mismarked many columns. The photocopies also were at places very faint. Any errors in this transcription may be due to the inability of the transcribers to overcome these problems, and so the reader should check the originals. Spellings are mostly transcribed into this record just as found in the original, so some imagination must be used in reading and searching this census.

Any corrections of misread names may easily be posted or annotated if a reader will submit such observations to the Calvins.
