| Foster Hill Cemetery, Galway - 399 stones. Greens Corners Road approx. 0.3 miles north of Rt. 29 on the right (east side). The old section is on the left with rows numbered from the road to the rear, and north and south end designations on each row, and the new section on the right is numbered from the road to the rear. Foster Hill was known in 1878 as the North Galway Cemetery, located "about a quarter of a mile north of North Galway, on the east side of the road leading to the town of Providence." | ||||||

He was discharged May 16 1864 for disability. Post-war address was North Greenfield. |

Durkee's 1878 cemetery report gives the following: Co. D77th NYS Vol. Died at Martinsburg Virginia October 30 1864 from wounds received at the Battle of Middletown Virginia on October 19 1864. The 1865 Galway Town Civil War records state he enlisted August 1864 for 1 year at Schenectady unit unnamed. Received a $1000 enlistment bounty. |

With his brother David built a grist mill saw mill (1796) tannery and shoe shop by and below the remains of the old fire house in Barkersville. On April 4 1797 Samuel was elected Commissioner of Schools in Providence and was re-elected April 3 1798. In 1797 he worked on Providence roads district 11 as Path Master. In 1815 became Master of Chancery. The Samuel S. Barker House (his hotel east of the Barkersville Christian Church) became the J.C. Bogart Hotel in 1864. He originally came from Dartmouth Mass. |
