Notes:   This document was filed with Henry C. Ritchie's Saratoga County Families.   It was acompanied by a note from Howard Becker, a local history  author and genealogist from Clifton Park, saying he had found this among his "junk."

 

Ritchie typed a transcription and made several notations on the typescript page, including numbers which he had assigned to the individuals when he listed them in his Families.  He added the middle name "Baptist" in place of the initial of John B. Burns, and stated that the man who performed the marriage of John B. and Rebbecca Burns was Wm. Smith.

 

Ritchie noted that the John Burns who was born in 1820, the son of Samuel Burns, died April 22, 1888 and was buried in Westina Cemetery in Rotterdam, NY with his wife Eleanor Stevens (Mar. 5, 1821 - Jan 17, 1847). 

 

Ritchie added the record that Samuel Burns, the father of David born 4 May 1815, was himself born September 25, 1785 and was son of the David Burns who was reported in the record to have died 21 May 1816. 

 

Lastly, Ritchie added that the maiden name of Cathen Burns, mother of John B. Burns, as Van Vorst.   Unfortunately he cited no source for any of these additions.
