As transcribed by Cornelius Emerson Durkee and listed under Northumberland In Volume 4 pages 579 – 581 of Durkee's Epitaphs of Saratoga County, New York. “The stones from which the foregoing inscriptions were copied stand on a hill overlooking the Hudson River, about three miles north of Bacon Hill on the west side of the River road and about six hundred feet therefrom. The inscriptions were copied Oct. 12, 1878 by C.E. Durkee.” (Subsequent to 1878, the Lewis Cemetery was moved to the Thompson Cemetery, on the West River Road in the Town of Northumberland.)
