Bryan-Morley Bible Family Record
Maurice D. Morley, known to most as “Chris”, of Ballston Spa, passed away on July 13, 2011 at age 89. Born in Saratoga Springs, April 21, 1922, he was the son of the late Ballston Spa Postmaster Edward J. Morley and his wife Mable E. Bryan Morley. He took his first job delivering telegrams at age 10, left high school early to join the US Marines and served with distinction aboard the USS Essex during WWII. He was honorably discharged after three and a half years of service with 14 medals and battle stars.
Prior to becoming the Village of Ballston Spa’s History Consultant, Chris worked for the D & H Railroad, General Electric and the American Hide & Leather Co. and in the construction trade. His woodworking skills were often admired by visitors to Brookside Museum where he helped with restorations and gave toy-making demonstrations to children of all ages.
