James and Lydia (Shaw) Sturdevan Bible Record

Transcribed from a Family Bible which was as of 1973 said to be in the possession of Winston B. Sturdevan of Saratoga Springs NY. The Bible passed to Carryl Cudney of Saratoga upon the death of Winston. It has now been passed to James B. Sturdevan who resides in Knoxville, TN. The Bible was published by Collins & Co. & is the Third Edition dated 1814. This was the year James and Lydia were married and the book was most likely a wedding present. Their names are the first two entries; immediate family marriages, births and deaths are fairly well documented ever since. Unfortunately, James' parents names are not recorded and to this day remain a mystery. The Bible is not in the best condition, having lost its front cover and several front pages, and assistance will be sought on its restoration and preservation.
