Thompson Cemetery
Town of Northumberland

As transcribed by Cornelius Emerson Durkee and listed under Northumberland in
Volume 4, pages 583 – 603 of Durkee's Epitaphs of Saratoga County, New York.

“The enclosure containing the stones from which the foregoing inscriptions were copied,
is located on the west side of the River Road running northerly from Bacon Hill and directly opposite Thompson's Island. The epitaphs were copied Oct. 12, 1878 by
C.E. Durkee and the list is complete.” (page 603)

(Thompson Cemetery is located on the West River Road, north of Purinton Road and south of Peters Road. At some time after 1878, the Lewis Cemetery was moved from it's original location, to the Thompson Cemetery, and the stones from Lewis Cemetery now stand in the front left of Thompson Cemetery. A list of more recent inscriptions follows Durkee's work. In 2007, this small, historic, cemetery is still in occasional use.)
