Many of the records refer to MA01, "Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors in the
War of the Revolution." While the inclusion of the militia regiments was fairly
straightforward, there were 15 continental line regiments at the battles whose
records do not specifically list Saratoga battles information. However, the
national archives confirm that the persons included were there during the
battle dates. Sometimes the company commander listed was toward the end
of the pay period listed, not the one at the time of the battles. The additional
information in each record usually indicates who the Captain was in 1777.

Bramblee, William:
Addtional military information: When he was in Fort Edward, as the troops retreated
to Half Moon, the fort was burned by order of Captain Poor, the American officer in
command of the fort. The company remained at Half Moon until the American troops
began to collect up and meet Burgoyne; then were ordered up to Stillwater by an
officer belonging to the quartermasters' department, ordered to put up their tools
in the blacksmith's shop, and go to Bemis Heights; joined the forces at
the camp under the command of General Gates. Reconnoitered next morning, it being
supposed that Burgoyne's Indians would come round a pond of water and surprise the
American forces on the left flank or wing. The Indians came, forty or fifty in number
within about eighteen rods of us when they fired from ambush killing a number of
them and the rest fled. Subsequently served as Lieutenant, Capt. Joseph McCracken's
co., Col. Lansing's regt. (dates unknown).
