Children Placed in Private Homes: 1897
From 1897 Proceedings of Board of Supervisors of Saratoga County: Report of Superintendent of the Poor
"Last year the number of children in ...institutions was 192. The reduction [in the number of children supported by Saratoga County in orphanage institutions] has been accomplished by having 34 children from the various institutions, where we have been charged $1.50 per week, and through the agency of Rev. W. J. Maybee, have found
homes where they will be properly cared for and cease to be a burden upon the poublic, and through family influences and more favorable surroundings, grow up to useful lives. The following is a list of the children thus far provided for, with age, date of transfer and present location."
Dated November 8, 1897 C. W. Spaulding
This table contains the information submitted with that report. The details were transcribed into tabular form for clarity in presentation.
