SARATOGA COUNTY HISTORIAN
The Saratoga County History Department has large holdings of Saratoga County history and family history in printed (published and manuscript) form, maps, and photographs. There are limited printed holdings for neigboring counties and general family history references.
For the family history researcher, our collection includes extensive cemetery records, some with maps; a surname file of over 1700 surnames; town files containing church and cemetery records as well as historical items from the town; numerous indexes to church and cemetery records; special collections of early cemetery records, indexed scrapbooks, transcribed and indexed 1780's tax records. We have extensive World War II records and 20th century lists of enrolled voters. We maintain a cross reference list of our patron researchers who are willing to share their family history information and a computerized cross reference from surname files helping to find connected families.
The History Department is located in the Saratoga County building complex which
also contains the County Clerk's Office (land records, census) and the
Surrogate Court (wills, probate and guardian records).
