John Hart Cemetery
Town of Stillwater

overview of John Hart Cemetery, Stillwater

As transcribed by Cornelius Emerson Durkee and listed under Stillwater in volume 2,
pages 599 – 600 of Durkee's Epitaphs of Saratoga County, New York.

“The stones from which the above inscriptions were copied, stand unenclosed in an
orchard about five hundred feet east of the highway on a farm known as the old Hart
place, but now owned and occupied by Ingram. The inscriptions were copied
Oct. 5, 1877 by C.E.Durkee.”

(The John Hart Cemetery is located in the northwest corner of the Town of Stillwater,
on the northeast side of Putnam road, about 3/10 miles from the intersection of Brown
and Putnam roads, and about 7/10 miles from the intersection of Turner and Putnam
roads. From the old homestead on Putnam road, walk back along the old dirt road,
until the cemetery is found, hiding among the trees.)
