Sacandaga River Valley Scrapbook

This wonderful old scrapbook primarily contains newspaper clippings, circa 1880-1930, about the people who lived in the Sacandaga River Valley, before life was forever changed by the completion of the Conklingville Dam in 1930, which transformed the Sacandaga River Valley into the Great Sacandaga Reservoir. Geographically, Day and West Day are best represented, with scattered news from Batchellerville, Conklingville, Corinth, Hadley, Luzerne, Edinburg, Northville, Mayfield and places far beyond, but with some connection to the people of the Sacandaga River Valley. The scrapbook was scanned from front to back, however, the clippings are not in chronological order. Related subjects are somewhat grouped and parts of large articles are consecutive.

A "major subject" index follows, which includes all births, marriages & deaths, but the news tidbits on every page are fascinating reading, include many additional names, and will give one an excellent impression of life in that earlier time and place.
