The Schuylerville Standard

"The Schuylerville Standard" was a daily newspaper published each Thursday by the Tefft family of Schuylerville, NY. Susan Ryan, currently of Texas, and her sister discovered a number of copies of this old newspaper in their grandmother's attic after her death. Susan has taken on the task of making copies of these papers available to us on the WWW. She has the following editions in her possession: 2/23/28, 9/13/28, 10/26/44, 9/19/46, 12/12/46, 2/6/58, 2/28/58, 3/6/58, 4/24/58, 5/1/58. Starting with the older editions, Susan is keying the information in these papers to the best of her ability. The documents are then electronically mailed to Heritage Hunters' volunteer, Barbara Mohan. Barb and Karen Hammond Clark (another Heritage Hunters' member) are indexing the names of all individuals found in the newspapers' articles.

Neither Susan, nor Heritage Hunters claim responsibility for the information in these papers, nor your use of that information. We only hope that it will be interesting and possibly helpful in your search of your family heritage.

Currently, there are three versions of the paper available at this site: the September 13, 1928 edition, the February 23, 1923 edition, and Notes made by Susan as she reviewed the newspapers for the entire year, 1880. Other editions will be added as they become available to us and we are able to index the names into our Name Index page. Please keep checking back with us to see other copies as they come on line.

The index to names mentioned in these newspapers can be searched for easy access to the appropriate article(s) in the newspaper(s) where the individual(s) are mentioned. Go to the Name Index
