Mar.19, G. F. Harvey purchased the south quarter of the Pardue Block; and James Mingay the north quarter of the same block. The Pardue Block is now The Algonquin.

Mar. 22, The Kensington Hotel was sold under mortgage forclosure to the Kingsland Land Co., of Brooklyn.

Mar. 26. Emmett Lee and Lulu Rix were united in marriage.

Apr. 2, P. P. Wiggins, a well- known resident, died.

Apr. 6, Mrs. William A. Pierson died.

Apr. 24, Chauncy Kilmer and Mary A. Harvey were united in marriage.

Apr. 25, Occurred the death of Mrs. Cornelius E. Sheehan.

Apr. 27, Louis H. Cramer was appointed village engineer.

Apr. 28, Mrs. Margaret Wemple died.

Apr. 29, The Rev. William H. Hughes was appointed pastor of the First Methodist Church.

Apr.30, B. J. Goldsmith purchased the south half of the Arcade building for $45,000.

May 12, The Rev. Tileston F. Chambers accepted the pastorate of the First Baptist Church.

May 17, The Presbyterian General Assembly opened its sessions in the Presbyterian Church on Broadway, present edifice. The present site of the Presbyterian Church. was formerly the site of the Pavilion Hotel, one of the fashionable early hotels.

May 17. Howard B. Bullard and Joan A. Young were united in marriage.

May 19, Albert Spencer disposes of his interest in The Saratoga Clubhouse.

May 22. Occurred the death of Mrs. J. S. Fassett.

June 1, The Windsor Hotel opened with R. G. Smythe as manager. June 2. David Sidney Cooper and Clara L. Johnson were united In marriage.

June 5, Major L. M. Downs and M. V. B. Barrett were united in marriage. R. P. Holden and Mary S. Warner were married.

June 6, Walter S. Prescott and Elizabeth DeGroff were united in marriage.

June 12, The Grand Union Hotel opened with Woolley and Gerrans proprietors.

June 29, Commodore Perry Mitchell died.

July 13, Nathaniel B. Sylvester died.

July 21, A. H. Rhinelander was burned to death, by falling with a burning lamp.

July 23, Races at the Saratoga Race track begin.

Aug. 2, Samuel T. Heminway died.

Aug. 8, The opening of the regatta by the National Association of Amateur oarsmen at Saratoga Lake, was a great event of the social and sporting world.

Aug. 13, Occurred the death of Thomas Douglass.

Aug. 21, Frederick Hilton, son of Judge Henry Hilton, died.

Aug. 30, Capt. E. P. Howe was appointed postmaster at Saratoga Springs by President Cleveland.

Sept. 8, Mrs. W. B. B. Wescott died.

Sept. 18, The Republican State Convention was opened at Convention Hall.

Sept.24, Mervin Adams died.

Oct. 3, Miss Christine L. Gunning died.

Oct. 4, Dr. Robert Hamilton died, aged 75 years.

Oct. 13, Albert Hall died.

Oct. 23, The Rev. Clarence F. Swift resigned as pastor of the Congregational Church.

Nov. l. Gonjiro Miyamoto died.

Nov. I, Willard Lester and Jessie L. Starr were united in marriage.

Nov. 7, James R. Chapman died.

Nov. 14 Frederick E. Calkins, and Mary C. Clark were united in marriage.

Nov. 26, Waldo M. Potter died. He was formerly of. Saratoga Springs, was proprietor of The Saratogian for a number of years, and was also postmaster.
